Page 4 March 2014 Saint Patrick’s Day brings leprechauns and mischief By Amanda Goossen I love Saint Patrick’s Day. I’m not sure what it is about the holiday, but something about it inspires me. Every year a little leprechaun arrives in our house just before the kids wake up and turns our milk green. And he doesn’t stop there. every year somehow become a shade of emerald, tiny clover confetti appears all all year long), streamers in every shade of green hang from the walls and gold coins are left on the breakfast table. I know...it’s crazy! But I simply can’t resist. For dinner each year I make individual shepherd pies for everyone, from a recipe a friend from Ireland gave me years ago. My husband pours the Guinness and we toast another year of silliness as well as the innocence of our children, who thankfully still eat up every second of my leprechaun fun. I’m not sure what I’ll do when they start questioning the appearance of a little creature appearing in our home at night. But knowing me, I’ll probably keep throwing confetti everywhere! I love holidays and the excitement too much to ever let it go.
