Page 4 September 2013 September means change, for kids and Arcadia News By Amanda Goossen Friends often tease. My 7-year-old daughter even imitates me on occasion. “ Arcadia News, Arcadia News, Arcadia News, ” they say, mimicking my excitement. October 2011 was the first time I wrote a story for this newspaper. I wrote about cupcakes. Something I know well and enjoy eating far too often. Since then I’ve grown from writing about Sweets and Treats to Places We Liked and Cookbook , to photographing for stories and our cover, and constructing more than a few features. Many have asked me about my work for Arcadia News and my answer is always the same. I love it. I’m a passionate person. If you spend more than a few minutes with me you’ll quickly learn I talk too fast, laugh often and enjoy learning all about people. And I love Arcadia News . Maybe it’s our neighborhood, the truly remarkable people I get to work with or that I get to write and read, two of my favorite things. Most likely, it’s all of these things and a whole lot more. As the new Managing Editor of Arcadia News I hope to pour my passion for our community and this paper, into every page. I plan to listen to you, our readers, and bring you stories you want to read and discover. I’ll be out where you are, in the streets, schools, restaurants and shops, because I live here too! This month we have a variety of stories that highlight the greatness of September. We’ve added a monthly calendar, giving you a heads up on local events. We’ve made kids a focus since September is really all about them and their schools! Ingleside Middle School is on page 12 proving the beauty of their new campus extends inside the building, with students proud to be school ambassadors. On page 18 you’ll meet 17 year-old Ian Chestnut, a remarkable Eagle Scout working hard to make a difference in our community. Plus, we take a peek at the Trojans!
