In May, she and Kalil took a three-day Carnival cruise to Catalina Island and Encinitas in California. “It offered great pricing, lack of planning on our behalf and, most of all, attractive locations,” Fisher said. “I liked the adventure of being at sea and all the inclusive accommodations and activities. Anyone who says Shakespeare’s women can only swoon over men hasn’t seen Acker’s Beatrice verbally sparring with Benedick. She is in love with him; the fi lm is a romance after all. Yet she also has a mind of her own and isn’t easily swept off her feet. 6. Whedon’s casting is exceptional. Alexis Denisof is witty and charming as Benedick, Clark Gregg manages to turn an usually amusing scene darker with emotion, and Sean Maher’s Don John is a truly intimidating character. None of the actors fall short in their respective parts. 7. It’s fi lmed in black and white. It may seem pointless, but it actually improves the visual aspect. This movie is mild on the senses, with minimal noise and little crowd on-screen. Colorless fi lm adds to the effect. 8. Whedon once again proves he not only knows how to direct and adapt a screenplay, he realizes how important music is to a movie. In this production, the music ampli fi es the emotion of each scene perfectly. It features Shakespeare’s original lyrics, and changes the audience’s mood whether from the background or as the only audio of the moment. Overall, this new Much Ado About Nothing is a great show for fans of Shakespeare, Joss Whedon, or even those who have yet to experience either, receiving a de fi nite 4 ½ stars. Unfortunately, it isn’t in many theaters around town, so some searching may be required. If it can’t be found nearby, de fi nitely rent the DVD. Brophy, which is losing money on the property, and Ryland Homes have been receptive to community members and athletes, both DiCiccio and Schafer said. Preserving Community Aquatics met with an attorney as a liaison between Brophy and Ryland Homes in July to discuss the organization’s concerns about the facility. Brophy of fi cials were out of town and not available for comment. Possible outcomes with the Phoenix Swim Club include Brophy maintaining ownership allowing the club to remain; Ryland Homes building 35 two-story homes on the property; Ryland Homes developing the property but maintaining the pool; or another entity purchasing the property. Schafer said all parties involved need to proceed carefully and not rush the process.
