It sounds like a fine place, but when he wants to see good live music, he has to journey many hours away. Thankfully, we Valley folk have great venues all around our city, from state-of- the-art arenas down to funky art spaces. This July mix features a great lineup of acts playing Phoenix, so be supportive of what we have right under our nose and have sympathy for that nice guy who’s driving 200 miles to get his kicks. TODD RUNDGREN I Saw the Light (1972) This artist is so accomplished you tend to forget just how heavy he is. The Crescent Ballroom is a perfect setting to see this wizard and true star. JETHRO TULL Thick as a Brick Pt 1 (1972) Ian Anderson comes to Arizona to perform Thick As A Brick in its entirety and the venue could not be more a p p r o p r i a t e . BAUHAUS Ziggy Stardust (1982) Slapped with the goth tag, but the band was so much more. When Bauhaus broke up, Peter Murphy, the band’s lead singer, went on to a notable solo career, while the other three members of Bauhaus went on to form Love and Rockets.
