The Arcadia News team would like to pay tribute one more time to all of the winners of the “Teachers We Love“ contest. Teachers We Love... Many thanks to all of the teachers who make a difference! 2012-13 school year We wish all of the teachers and students a great summer and We wish all of the teachers and students a great summer and Cathy Rathburn Cathy Rathburn, hearing services teacher at Ingleside Middle School, was nominated by Shannon Gough. “She has been my teacher of the hearing impaired since kindergarten. I am now in 6th grade. She has not only helped explain my needs to all of my other teachers, she also helps me when I don’t understand a lesson. Her caring and compassion have come through in multiple ways.” – November 2012 Mary Sleasman Mary Sleasman received praise for the positive impact she has on her first grade students at Biltmore Preparatory Academy. “She is the most caring and compassionate teacher. She is able to meet each child at their level of need, teach them, excite them into the world of learning and I have had the chance to see my child soar!” Nominated by: Karin Szymanski – February 2013 Kelly Plowman Jordan Lard nominated Kelly Plowman, who teaches 3rd/4th grade at ANLC. “Ms. Plowman is sweet because she never yells at us and treats us all fairly. She has us do fun projects. She is the best book reader because during read aloud she always reads to us with a lot of feelings and that makes the book more realistic. My teacher knows everything! No matter what subject she is teaching, she knows the answers to our questions.” – January 2013 Dianne Ruderman A fourth grade teacher at Hopi Elementary, Dianne Ruderman was nominated by Katherine Brown. “She challenges each student to do his or her personal best. She finds out what each kid is best at and challenges that kid in that area. Mrs. Ruderman is an outstanding teacher and the least I can do to pay her back for her wonderful teaching is to nominate her for this award.” – March 2013 Kristine Krause “Kristine Krause, kindergarten teacher at Christ Lutheran School, was nominated by Jennifer Kalos who states, “She is the most loving, kind, nurturing teacher I have ever met. Mrs. Krause exudes each of these qualities all while running an organized class, which fosters learning. She is so deserving of recognition as an exceptional teacher.” – April 2013 Gloria Pineda Gloria Pineda, who teaches preschool at St. Theresa Catholic School, was nominated by Erin Ferguson. “She is warm, loving and embraces the children as if they were her own. She has made us feel comfortable as parents to leave our children in her care. Mrs. Pineda is a true example of a teacher who not only teaches basic principles to the children, but has added spirituality the way children can understand and portray in life.” – May 2013 Ana Contreras Ana Contreras, a kindergarten teacher at Biltmore Preparatory Academy, is described as an amazing Spanish immersion teacher. “She is exactly the type of kindergarten teacher you want your child to have…warm, loving, kind and intelligent. The kids just soak up language from her via poems, games, songs and math. She makes kindergarten a place they want to be!” Nominated by: Kate Hogarty – June 2013
