Page 32 April 2013 By Kaley Kalil Ashley Cain, 28, purchased her fi rst home in Arcadia a year and a half ago. Having attended Hopi Elementary and Ingleside Middle schools, much of her childhood was spent in the area. For the past six years, Cain has been working in customer service and business development for Interactive Sites, a Web and custom software fi rm servicing the hospitality industry. Her job requires her to travel throughout the country about once a month. She said her “favorite” is New York City. “The hustle and bustle of the city, great dining, quaint bars and great shopping make for a nice getaway from Phoenix,” she said. Cain travels to present the company’s products and services to potential clients and to review annual marketing plans with existing customers. A trip in mid-March took her to Pinehurst, N.C., home to the country’s largest golf resort with eight golf courses and three resorts. “My boss and I presented our products and services to gain their website business and provide an overall online approach for the 2014 U.S. Open, which the property is hosting,” Cain said. “We were at the property for two days, which allowed us to dine, explore the beautiful property and venture to a few local bars the evening before the meetings.” Cain said she tries to take advantage of her experiences and fi t in fun and touristy activities whenever possible. “Each time I travel to New York City, I make it an assignment to try something new,” she said, “whether it be going to a museum, experiencing a speakeasy bar for the fi rst time or taking the subway to a new area of town I have never been to.” Another business trip was to the Halekulani Hotel in Waikiki Beach on the island of Oahu. “One of our assignments while we were there for meetings was to experience the island,” Cain said. Cain said her trips have taught her to be more patient. “With my work travels, I have grown to understand and go with the fl ow when travel doesn’t go as smoothly as planned,” she said. This month, Cain will be traveling to Bonaventure Resort & Spa near Fort Lauderdale in Florida for a hotel management conference. She said she hopes to visit Italy this year or next. “Italy is famous for great food, wine, scenery and weather – all of my favorite things.” Traveled lately or know someone who has?
