Page 26 March 2013 Teacher grants offered By Shelby Slade Salt River Project is accepting applications through March 31 for social studies and learning grants for educators to implement new programs into their classrooms for the next school year. “These grants are very important in the classroom,” Ileen Snoddy, community outreach for SRP, said. “Teachers and educators should take the time to apply for them, because every little bit is going to help them further the goals that they need to accomplish in their class and for their students.” In May, SRP will award $150,000 in learning grants for science, technology and engineering, and $25,000 in social studies grants across Arizona. Applicants can apply to receive up to $5,000 for learning grants and $2,000 for social studies grants to incorporate a new program into their school or classroom. SRP, which has been giving out grants for 25 years, also works with educators to provide in-service teacher training.
