Page 50 December 2012 Live music scene adds to holiday season’s fun By Craig Goossen The holiday season is here and there’s no better time to be out and about on the town. The exhilarating blur of the season is packed with hard-charging shopping excursions, off-kilter of fi ce soirees and the joyous art of gift-giving. Getting out and indulging in the charms of our town’s live music scene is essential to fully enjoying the season and your of fi cial pass from slipping into scrooge- dom. Supporting live music is also a sure fi re way to get your toes tapping, head bopping and backside swinging. These body motions can also be constituted as exercise, thus giving you a terri fi c head start on your New Year’s resolution. This month’s mix is culled from bands that will be hitting town before we close the year, so check them out by going to the band’s website, stopping by your local record shop or simply sample and download from iTunes. Here’s to hoping your holidays are fantastic and fi lled with music. Head For The Hills Unchain My Heart A hard plucking bluegrass group from Colorado covers a track fi rst recorded by Ray Charles in 1961. ZZ Top Heartache In Blue These bearded Hall of Famers’ new release, produced by Rick Rubin, melds the classic Texas boogie blues we expect with the raw production sound of the famed Rubin.
