Page 32 December 2012 Accident Continued from page 30 from friends and family to help keep him from drowning in bills. “He doesn’t know how to thank them. He says he doesn’t have words,” Rigoberto said. Arcadia resident Dave Murphy has been a longtime client of Gonzalez and the crew of landscapers who he works with. They have taken care of his landscaping since Murphy moved to Arcadia 15 years ago. “Gonzo,” Murphy said. “He is always smiling.” On the week of the accident, Murphy could feel that something was not right. Gonzalez and the crew didn’t make it to his house, and they had never missed before. “He’s a really nice guy with a tragic story,” Murphy said. “A lot of people would help if they only knew what happened to him.” Murphy has worked with a friend at First Bank to help set up an account where those wanting to help can donate money to help Gonzalez during his six-month hiatus from work. Gonzalez is not sure how he is going to continue or move forward, but he wants now for the people helping him to know that he is grateful. And he still has his dream of buying his own house someday.
