She has lived in London and Japan and has seen much of the U.S. “I would go back to Scotland in a heartbeat,” she said. “I was very surprised at how beautiful the country is, whether in Edinburgh, the Highlands, or in between. The people were so warm and friendly and the wild countryside makes history come alive.” Young’s next adventure will be to San Ignacio Lagoon in the Mexican province of Baja California Sur in February to see the whales. Israel, Morocco and India are at the top of her list. “Working in the library at Hopi Elementary gives me a great opportunity to talk with the kids about other cultures and the excitement of travel,” Young said. “There really is no better education than traveling. Not only is it quite humbling, but also it gives a far greater appreciation for how lucky we are to live in this day and time, not to mention this country. And it is always a bit surprising that no matter where we go on this earth, people are fundamentally alike.
