It’s my homepage, it’s a news source, it’s something I see as I should be writing or doing research. It’s a constant in my life. Yesterday afternoon I opened Yahoo just as I always do and began to skim. Kelly Ripa picked a new co-host, something political was being completely blown out of proportion, a crazy animal video was catching everyone’s attention and then, BOOM, I saw the next link. I immediately began to cry. Judy Blume has breast cancer. Judy Blume, one of the most constant people in my life, my trusted companion, my friend, has breast cancer. This woman changed my life. Like most girls I’ve read every book she ever published. I’ve actually read them multiple times. Even the adult novels, which I hid under my bed because I was sure I wasn’t supposed to have them. Growing up, I struggled. I felt alone.
