First and foremost, the Regional Homeless Court requires defendants to be working toward employment. The homeless court also requires them to be sober, complete community service in lieu of fi nes and go through transitional programs such as substance-abuse treatment and life-skills training to better prepare for reintegration back into the workforce. A lot of credit should be given to all the lawmakers and certainly the governor for taking such a huge step in the right direction as far as breaking the cycle of homelessness in Arizona.
