Page 34 July 2012 Travel Tips Continued from page 31 Construction fi nish near for ANLC By Caroline Hester Scottsdale Uni fi ed School District is in the fi nal phases of opening its new Arcadia Neighborhood Learning Center. “We’re headed to the fi nish line,” said Steve Poulin, project director with McCarthy Building Companies, the general contractor for the construction of the center. The new school will be open for the 2012-13 school year and will feature a new soccer fi eld, new parking lot, an improved gymnasium and new courtyard areas, Poulin said. Since May 2011, the phased project successfully tore down all three of the Scottsdale school’s former buildings. By the end of May, the construction on the buildings was completed, and the desks and equipment were placed in the new facilities. The last phase of the project entails completion of the administration building and will be fi nished this summer. “We will have a dedication program when the project is completed,” said Rick Freeman, the executive director of facilities and operation for SUSD.
