Instead, the senior center elder has swiped his way into the books with 77 career stolen bases, a state record for the 4A level. Going into the Titans’ game against Moon Valley a week ago Friday, Satran knew he was tied with the old record of 74. “I singled to rst,” he said. “I knew I was going to steal second and that was the record right there, and just so there wasn’t any dispute, I stole third, too.” The Moon Valley coaches gave him the base in recognition of his achievement. Though he’s stolen plenty of bases in his four-year varsity career, it was probably the rst time he took one home with him. Satran discovered his speed and knack for stealing bases in sixth grade. He’s been a veritable Bernie Madoff of baserunning ever since, setting school records for stolen bases in a season and in a career on the way to his state record and accumulating a stat line that reads like a rap sheet.
