By Jordan Frakes An Arcadia-based family owned and operated stocking distributor of aerospace fasteners is celebrating 50 years of personalized, quality service and national recognition. As one of the rst distributors of its kind in the western U.S., EGR Company, located at 44 th Street and Osborn Road, supplies both local and national clients with nuts, bolts and threaded inserts for a variety of manufacturing needs. “We’ve got a big inventory and a bunch of loyal customers,” said Erick Chapman, the company’s head of operations. “Most of our customers are here in the Valley, but we serve companies across the United States.” Clients have included Honeywell, McDonnell Douglas and General Dynamics. One of the company’s main products is Heli-Coil threaded inserts. These heat- resistant screw thread coils are designed to aid in the manufacturing of products in the aerospace, electronic, automotive, telecommunications and defense industries. “Our parts are used to make everything from military hardware to mountain bikes,” Chapman said. Chapman’s grandfather and EGR founder, Swede Reyman began the business with his wife, Allene, in February 1962. The couple started the business out of their home, but moved to their current ofce and warehouse location once their operation gained momentum. “We’re just a small mom and pop shop,” said Chapman, when speaking about the company’s roots and long-lasting business philosophy. There are only three individuals on the company payroll. Together, these individuals span three generations of the Reyman family. Chapman, his mother Kerry and grandmother, Allene all play a vital role in the business’ daily operations. “We all kind of have a hand in everything,” Chapman said. Chapman said he does most of the sales, his mom is the ofce manager and his grandmother is in charge of bookkeeping.
