Tucker Woodbury ( The Vig ) has a long history in the restaurant business, but his success in Arcadia has led to a stylish new joint in the old dive-bar spot held by The Great Escape. The Little Woody opened a few months ago, with a cool speakeasy-style entrance in the back and an assortment of food and booze that lends the place a cool vibe. General Manager Tyler Christensen has neighborhood experience with Postino and Malee’s. The décor alone is worth the visit. The Little Woody, 4228 E. Indian School Road, 602-955-0339. After almost 20 years at their current location in Old Town Scottsdale, Oregano’s Pizza Bistro , is moving their fl agship restaurant to a new home 600 yards down the street – into a sweet space previously occupied by Sugar Daddy’s. Page 49 May 2012 Business Continued from page 48 Gallery features skull of gigantic prehistoric reptile By Jonathan Reid Scottsdale’s Touchstone Gallery has obtained a skull fossil of the gigantic reptile Mosasaur, a prehistoric marine predator that has garnered a sale price of $25,000. Joe Wilhelm, owner of Touchstone Gallery, said the fossil was found in the Phosphate Deposits Formation of Quoed Zem, Khouribga Plateau, Morocco where it had been sitting for 70 million years. For animal remains to fossilize, certain types of sediment have to cover the bones, which decompose into rock over millions of years. The Gallery specializes in fi nding unique fossils and minerals from all over the world. “We’d love for people to come to see any piece of natural art,” Wilhelm said. “We have a wide range of things that fall into the category of extraordinary mineral specimens and fossil specimens, and just like all the other galleries on Marshall Lane we’re open late on Thursday nights to give the people a chance to see them.” Importation laws are strict and vary from state to state, country to country, so Wilhelm said he takes explicit care in fi nding fossils. “We generally go to some length to make sure that what we have has been properly and legally collected and imported,” Wilhelm said. “For us to do that we have to have a long-term relationship with someone. “Every day someone comes into our galleries and says ‘Would you like to buy this fossil?’ Unless we can track how it was imported, if it came from elsewhere, and make sure that it was legally collected, we just don’t do it.” The fossil was acquired at the Tucson Mineral and Fossil Show from British fossil importer Brian Eberhardie, a major importer of Moroccan fossils. Wilhelm said Eberhardie has helped his gallery obtain many prehistoric sea creatures, which are more often fossilized than land animals because sea creature’s bones are less likely to be subject to adverse weather conditions and scavengers. Another fi nd the gallery is selling for $2.25 million is a complete fossil of an ancient horse nicknamed Dawn. “Dawn was found about seven years ago by a quarry master in southwestern Wyoming in a formation called the Green River formation,” Wilhelm said. “She was found in an extraordinarily good condition meaning that the way it was found is the way that it is displayed. Scavengers will move the bones all over the place when they eat the fl esh and this is clearly an animal that was an exception.” Wilhelm said the horse fell into its resting spot, got covered with the right kind of sediments and turned into limestone. “It fully preserved the animal,” he said. Although Dawn is being kept in a climate-controlled vault near Salt Lake City, a resin replica can be viewed at the gallery. More information is available by calling 480-874-8385 or visiting www.Touchstone-Gallery.net. Touchstone Gallery is at 4168 N. Ravenscroft, Esq., Beneficiary Deed in essence is a “pay on death designation” for real property. Upon a person’s death, the named beneficiary can record a death certificate and obtain title to the property. Probate is not needed. Without a Beneficiary Deed, real property needs to be probated unless it is held in trust. The Beneficiary Deed is fully revocable until the owner dies or if there are two owners, until the last owner dies. The Beneficiary Deed is a great tool for people who do not want to have a trust and have “pay on death” designations on their accounts. The Beneficiary Deed is not a good tool to leave real property to more than three people or to minors or to adults with special needs receiving government assistance. A Why a Beneficiary Deed? Sharon’s practice focuses on the preparation of wills, trusts and other estate planning documents, such as powers of attorney, domestic partnership agreements and premarital agreements, as well as trust administration, probate, creation of LLCs and business law. 13250 N. The agent can give consent for or refuse medical treatment. Without a health care agent, the law allows a great number of people to make a limited amount of decisions that is, a spouse, family member, and friends all have the ability to make certain emergency medical decisions. With a health care agent, there is one person, or an alternate, who can give all medical decisions. Even mental health care needs can be included. Further, the Arizona statutes direct that cremation or burial preferences be listed in the health care power of attorney. Therefore, your agent can make sure you have the cremation or burial you want without needing all of your surviving family members to agree. A health care power of attorney can help prevent an emotionally charged situation from becoming even more stressful for your family and loved ones. A Why Have a Health Care Power of Attorney?
