Page 6 April 2012 Salmon Fishing in the Yemen Director: Lasse Hallström Actors: Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt, Amr Waked and Kristin Scott Thomas Surprisingly delightful, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen is a breath of fresh air. Based on the novel of the same name by Paul Torday, fi sheries expert Dr. Alfred Jones (McGregor) is forced into a project to ful fi ll Sheikh Muhammad’s (Waked) dream of bringing salmon and fl y- fi shing to the desert. Though at fi rst he disagrees with the idea, he starts to see the vision and works with the sheikh and his fi nancial consultant Miss Harriet Chetwode-Talbot (Blunt) to accomplish the seemingly impossible. One of the more original stories that have made it to the movies thanks to the book’s author, this is one of those fi lms that just gives people a warm feeling inside. It doesn’t take long to fall for the characters and their story. Some may question how good a movie about fi shing can be, but it has smartly balanced the story’s elements to keep the main theme clear while also making it about the people involved. As the woman herself admits, “Miss Chetwode-Talbot” is a mouthful, so compliments to McGregor for saying it so many times. However, that’s not the only thing worth complimenting. As Dr. Jones, he portrays someone who can’t tell a joke to save his life, but the audience laughs anyway and his socially awkward smile is contagious. Just as infectious is Blunt’s laugh as the capable yet vulnerable Harriet. The difference between Blunt and many other actresses is that she doesn’t need make-up to turn heads, but she goes further than just the face to give the character a real and believable personality. It is usually revocable, or changeable, during the life of the creator of the trust. The use of a living trust is an important way of avoiding probate court involvement if a person is ill or dies. A person can choose the trusted friend or relative to succeed them as Trustee and to take care of the person’s assets the way the person wants as opposed to having the court involved. Without a trust, the probate court must get involved and family and heirs are notified about your assets. A trust allows funds for a minor to be overseen by the Successor Trustee and used for the minor. Without a trust, inherited assets for a minor will be overseen by the court and distributed to the child at age 18. Without a trust, adults who receive government benefits due to disability could lose those benefits because of an inheritance. With a trust, you can make sure your disabled adult child or family member does not lose governmental benefits and does receive your supplemental assistance.
