While she gets all kinds of requests, princesses, robots, and of course, Spiderman, remain consistently popular. Requests to be painted as video-game characters pop up on occasion, too. “The face painting will follow the movies,” Logan said, citing Tron and The Terminator as examples. “In video games, Mario is still popular, so I fi nd I have to keep up with video-game characters.” In addition to birthday parties, Logan said she has practiced her craft at sporting events, the annual Spooktacular (where zombies, pumpkins, vampires and the like are popular), and air shows. “If it’s a sporting event they’ll want the logo of the teams and things like that,” Logan said. The biggest challenge is needing to paint quickly, she said. “I have to go really fast because the kids don’t want to sit still that long and sometimes all their friends want to be right up next to them,” Logan said. “I have to have a lot of chairs; it’s like everyone wants to be fi rst.” Logan estimated she can paint about 20 kids per hour.
