Page 24 December 2011 This month’s report from Councilman Sal DiCiccio Last month, I reported to you that local donors had contributed $5,000 to Arcadia High School sports programs for girls. You should be proud to learn that contributors from our Arcadia neighborhood have added to that total. Multiple donors have given $7,000 so far to these worthwhile pursuits. We selected girls’ sports initially because of the interests of the donors and the perceived needs of the program. Youth sports can build character, persistence and teamwork, while keeping teens involved in something at school and out of trouble. While that amount is substantial and the recipients are grateful, more such help from the community could be put to good use with those programs or elsewhere in Arcadia. No one needs to be reminded of how tough the economy is out there. While our area is a relatively af fl uent Continued on page 30 Appetite Suppressant Lose up to 20-30 lbs. the first month. Central Ave. Suite 2400 Phoenix, Arizona 85004 revocable living trust is a trust which is created and becomes effective while the creators of a trust are still living. It is usually revocable, or changeable, during the life of the creator of the trust. The use of a living trust is an important way of avoiding probate court involvement if a person is ill or dies. A person can choose the trusted friend or relative to succeed them as Trustee and to take care of the person’s assets the way the person wants as opposed to having the court involved. Without a trust, the probate court must get involved and family and heirs are notified about your assets. A trust allows funds for a minor to be overseen by the Successor Trustee and used for the minor. Without a trust, inherited assets for a minor will be overseen by the court and distributed to the child at age 18. Without a trust, adults who receive government benefits due to disability could lose those benefits because of an inheritance. With a trust, you can make sure your disabled adult child or family member does not lose governmental benefits and does receive your supplemental assistance. With a trust, the minor can then receive control of the funds at a much older age, even gaining control over a portion at staggered ages. A Why a Trust? Why a Trust? 13250 N.
