Page 16 December 2011 Business in China leads to Arcadian’s world travels By Kaley Kalil An Arcadia resident for more than nine years, Cindy Urbaytis has recently made China her home away from home. Urbaytis is the vice president of sales, marketing and public relations at the Institute for Supply Management, a not- for-pro fi t educational association serving the supply chain management profession. “I oversee all the marketing and revenue generating activities for the association,” Urbaytis said. Her career has brought her to China four times during the past year, after the opening of a new training of fi ce in Shanghai. She has stayed in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tianjin and Shenzhen. Though busy with work while there, Urbaytis has been able to squeeze in some fun tourist activities throughout her business trips. She has visited such famous sites as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square in Beijing, the Bund in Shanghai, and Victoria Peak in Hong Kong. “I usually take back more memories from working with the Chinese directly,” she said. Urbaytis said she enjoys trying the local food when traveling. Cindy Urbaytis in Tiananmen Square. In China, she has feasted on sea cucumber (a giant slug), duck-feet skin, pickled octopus and jelly fi sh, to name a few exotic dishes. “The Chinese waste very little, therefore, all parts of the animal might show up on the menu,” she said. “My advice to anyone traveling to China or Asia is to stay away from Western food and enjoy the local fare. It’s all exceptionally good and really quite good for you.” Continued on page 18 Religious Instruction • Strong Academics • Religious Instruction • Strong Academics • Cutting Edge Technology Cutting Edge Technology Leadership Programs • PE and Interscholastic Sports • Instrumental and Vocal Music Leadership Programs • PE and Interscholastic Sports • Instrumental and Vocal Music “Arts Attack” Program • School Nurse • Bus Transportation Available “Arts Attack” Program • School Nurse • Bus Transportation Available Offering Spanish to All Grade Levels Join us at our Open House Jan. 10, 2012 from 9:00am - 2:00pm & 5:00pm - 7:00pm Scholorship Info Meeting (K-8) at 6:45pm Kindergarten Info Meeting at 7:00pm CHRIST LUTHERAN SCHOOL Christian Values.
