The city added a new food tax, which pays for this year’s raises, plus cranked up fees for water Nobody else behaved that way. While Phoenix charged more, gave less and paid itself higher and higher compensation, private businesses did the opposite. Out in the real world, businesses that survived gave better service for less and reduced compensation. Those who fail to comprehend the vision for Phoenix, which is not only the major but the only debate in this election, have a narrow and expansive view of government. The high-tax, public-union-driven, lumbering giant of government is the old way. The lean, focused, nimble, non- bureaucratic government is the new way. That’s the vision.
