Can’t ask for much more. Father’s Day 2011 will long be remembered in the Leonard household. Dad and two sons head off to Mountain Shadows for a little golf. At the 18th, 15-year-old Anthony fi nished the day right. With a wedge from 105 yards, Anthony’s hole-in-one made Father’s Day a big part of Leonard lore. Thanks to the family for sharing the moment. We’ve got other great stuff this month that was sent in by readers, too. Arcadia Little League, as it usually does, made some noise in District 6. One champ and one runner-up are featured in Sports with photos and information sent in. Thank you. While in Sports, you’ll fi nd a solid look at the upcoming Arcadia High football season by Wayne Schutsky and a story about the Titans’ upcoming swim season by Elias Tolano. About the only good thing to come out of starting the school year so darn early is we at least have prep sports to get us through August. Of course, it’s not all about sports. At least that’s what people tell me. There’s eating of course. I always like Christia Gibbons’ Arcadia’s Cookbook. Nice little stories about people in the neighborhood and what they like to cook. Christia does a very good job telling the stories, too. But this one is her best, and it has nothing to do with how the story is told. I just think the recipe sounds like something someone should cook for me. The story starts on page 39. The recipe is on page 41. It makes a lot, so you’ll have plenty to invite friends or someone. Italians taught me how to eat. My grandfather took me to an Italian-American club that made great spaghetti. OK, great for an 8-year-old. We have a good story by Liam Hausmann on page 45 about the Irish Cultural Center in downtown Phoenix. The center teaches all things Irish, and I know the Irish have a rich music and dance tradition.
