Châteaux du Lude Rendering AZ Humane Society’s new program aims to aid ‘121’ By Steven Corey The Arizona Humane Society has announced its fi rst Project 121 program to help and honor the 121 animals (on average) that come into their doors every day. The six-week program was launched in mid-July and culminates with the Humane Society’s live, 121-minute telethon on August 27. Project 121 was introduced with the presentation of the “faces” of the project and their background stories. One story shared was that of the puppy Scarlet. According to the Humane Society, the puppy was rescued after being stuck in the engine of a car. The wounds and burns to her belly have been healed extensively through treatment and surgery. The community can take part and make a difference in the life of a homeless animal by visiting www.project121.org and starting a team, joining a team or registering as an individual fundraiser. One can also become a captain and help lead a team. Another way to help out the cause is to shop at any AJ’s Fine Foods supermarket and make a donation at the checkout at any time during the six-week campaign. Finally, one can contribute by tuning into the telethon on channel 3 to hear the live results of Project 121, according to the campaign’s website. The Arizona Humane Society is a non-pro fi t organization that depends on contributions and help from the Valley community.
