They can’t wait to get outside and do the hands-on stuff like digging.” Science is emphasized in the archeology program, and children learn about fi nding things underground using technology and fi lling out the appropriate paper work when they fi nd an archeological site, Gage said. The park features an excavated ball court that is about the size of a football fi eld and the Park of Four Waters, which features four prehistoric canals. Along the trails is full-scale replica housing, adobe compounds and pit houses to help visualize where the Hohokam people lived, Aguilar said. The museum is the of fi cial archeological repository of Phoenix and all of the artifacts that are found in Phoenix come to the museum where they stay safe and preserved, Aguilar said. There is a behind-the-scenes tour twice a month to give people the opportunity to go into the collections area and learn how the artifacts are cleaned and kept to preserve the integrity of the piece. The museum is at 4619 E. Washington St. For additionakl information, visit the website at www.pueblogrande.org . Hohokam Continued from page 14 ur focus is on you!
