You can tell by the baseball bats hanging out the open back windows of all those neighborhood SUVs. Usually, that means it’s time to remind everyone about the goals of sportsmanship and instruction. There’s no shortage of Little League parents, by the way, who make such a reminder necessary. So let’s consider this it: behave in the stands, folks, and teach the kids more than how to stand around, coaches. April is baseball, and there’s a lot of it in your newspaper this month. Starting on page 56, Nicholas Herrle’s story about the Diamondbacks bullpen catcher is a good one. Later in sports is the news about Arcadia High pitcher Andrew Naderer’s no-hitter. Then there’s a local youth-baseball club looking to take a cultural trip to Japan this summer. Matt Ingram, assistant coach at Arcadia High, is trying to put together the trip for his club team, the Arcadia Bulldogs. Hope they get there. Baseball and a new culture. Very cool. It’s not all about sports, of course, although it could be. One of the fi rst lessons you learn in a newsroom is that readers like photos of pets and kids. If you like kids, we have a bunch of them. I was lucky enough to be invited to ANLC’s Jump for Heart. Must have been a hundred knee-high jump-ropers. Some of the photos of them are on page 15. More are at arcadiadaily.com. Speaking of the web site, there are some nice photos of kids there by Chad Koerber. From the school carnival at Tavan, the Tavanival. Also a nice little story by Becca Bogdonsky. Hope you’ll take a look next time you’re on the Net. One of my favorite stories in this month’s paper is actually one of our smallest ones. It’s on page 26. You can turn your overdue library fi nes into helping the hungry. Also very cool. Finally, I must wish the paper a happy birthday. I wouldn’t want to be 19 again, but it’s a decent milestone for a community paper. Plus, I share a birthday month with the paper. Would never consider using valuable space to tell people, though. Thank you for reading the Arcadia News . Bullpen catchers, library books and lots of kids

See what our last three clients had to say about our service... “Steve and Inge, you were the most professional in the industry. I am happy to refer you to anyone (including my mom soon) we just can’t say enough.” --Jennifer and Jeff Baker “Steve and Inge were highly professional and extremely pleasant throughout the entire process of selling our existing home and pur- chasing a new home. The results were better than expected in this very tough market for sellers - a four-way bidding war within less than a week of listing and an ultimate sale above asking price. Steve and Inge were accessible and responsive, had valuable knowledge and insights abut the neighborhoods that we were selling and buy- ing in and generally gave great advice in negotiating both our sale and purchase transactions.” --Garth and Yvonne Stevens “We are extremely satisfied with the real estate services we received from the Oliverio Group. Steve (a long time Valley resident) and Inge are very professional, knowledgeable, courteous, excellent commu- nicators, and truly dedicated to serving their clients. We would not hesitate to use them again or refer them to our friends. “ --Dick and Mary Daley 1-866-470-1126 1-866-470-1126 ENTER EXT# TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THESE PROPERTIES See all Phoenix listings now at: OLIVERIOGROUP.COM OLIVERIOGROUP.COM or call our 24-hour hotline Do you owe more on your home than it is worth?
