With the revamping of our website, now at ArcadiaDaily.com, we are in a position to bring our neighbors news of their schools, restaurants, museums, galleries and parks on a daily basis. Coupled with our monthly look at life in Arcadia, we are positioned to bring the area media coverage available in no other neighborhood in the Valley. We’re pretty excited. There’s a lot of work still to be done, of course. New ventures always have unexpected pitfalls. That’s where we could use your help. Obviously, a daily news presence means we can tell fellow Arcadians about what’s going on in your life. Material that often doesn’t make the fi nite space and deadlines of the newspaper – church and school fundraisers and announcements, sports team results and photos, kids’ accomplishments, so much more – can easily fi nd an online home. But the number-one reason I’m writing to you this month is to get you to test drive ArcadiaDaily.com. We’ve tried to test everything ourselves, of course. Tried to make it to Jan. 4 without breaking New Year’s resolutions, too. So if you’ll drop in, click around, see what you like and don’t like, let me know. We’re especially interested if there was something you expected but didn’t fi nd. A very cool feature is the Flikr Photostream. You can upload your photographs to Flikr, give them a tag of arcadianews (one word), and they’ll automatically appear in the lineup randomly. And if someone clicks on the photo, they’ll be taken to your Flikr page. One way we think the site will be as unique as the neighborhood is the relationship between the site and the paper. Rather than give you the same material twice, the industry norm, our online content will be timely news and our paper’s will be monthly features.
